This booklet was produced to accompany the variety of actions that took place in Manchester on election day 2001.

A bunch of people involved in those actions knocked it up in a hurry, and none of the views expressed in it are necessarily the views of everybody involved in the actions. Feel free to reproduce any of it (we nicked half the stuff anyway....), and have a look at www.x21.org/uninvited for more in a similar vein.

They cause chaos and mayhem. They spread violence and hate, causing damage everywhere they go. They show blatant disregard for democracy.
No, we’re not talking about anarchists, we’re talking...
GLOBAL CAPITALISM!

It really is out of control....
In a world where 1 in 5 people lack basic food, water and healthcare, where the richest 20% of the world’s population consumes 86% of its resources, and a handful of multinational corporations own more and have more influence than the majority of the world’s countries, who is running things?

Today we are being asked to vote for a new government. But when unelected bodies like the World Bank and the IMF run the world in accordance with the interests of the corporate elite, and every party is in the pockets of big business, what can we hope to achieve by voting for politicians? When 1 in 3 children in Britain live below the poverty line, yet 1 in 3 MPs in Britain are millionaires, do you really trust these bastards to run your life? Couldn’t we do a much better job ourselves?

How about a society where democracy is not just a sham to pacify us for another 4 years of corporate rule, but a system in which we can control our own lives. Where people run their entertainment, food, education, production and everything else on a basis of mutual aid and cooperation, through a network of localised communities. The actions taking place today, and the ideas in this booklet, don’t pretend to be a blueprint. Nobody has all the answers (watch out, if they say they do they’ll probably shoot you after the revolution!). What we are trying to do is provoke some reactions and thoughts. To provide some different ideas about what is wrong with the current system, and what we can do about it.

See you on the barricades!
